This exciting NFT collection is called ‘Retro Reimagined’ and features Reddit’s beloved ‘Snoo’ alien mascot, reimagined by a diverse group of talented artists and creators, each bringing their unique styles and moods to the avatars.

Reddit unveiled this collection in an official blog post, highlighting that these avatars are limited edition, which means only a set number of each artist’s collectible avatars will be available for purchase. Each tokenized avatar is priced between $2.49 and $199.99, making it accessible to a broad range of enthusiasts. The collection features NFT designs from an impressive lineup of 100 independent artists, some of whom drew inspiration from popular NFT collections like Cool Cats.

Reddit entered the NFT marketplace in the latter half of 2022, launching its own NFT marketplace where users are required to set up a Reddit Vault Wallet to facilitate the purchase and storage of NFTs.

By December of the previous year, Reddit had already accumulated an impressive 4.25 million unique wallets, with 3.9 million of them possessing at least one Reddit NFT. The limited edition nature of Reddit avatars has been driving significant value in resale markets, benefitting both artists and holders alike. According to a report from Decrypt, the total trading volume of Reddit avatars on secondary markets has reached a staggering $33.6 million.

As the platform continues to evolve, Reddit has introduced some changes to the NFT purchase process to ensure a fair and secure experience for all users. They have implemented Captcha for all Shop purchases to verify that buyers are indeed human users. Additionally, for the first day of the GEN 4 launch, the platform will consider factors like account age and other metrics to provide initial access and will limit the number of collectibles an individual can purchase at one time, promoting a more equitable distribution of the avatars.
