Are you thinking of building a website for your business? Or do you already have your own website?
If yes, you might have heard of Google ranking somewhere somehow. However, you might not have done research on what it is and how it actually affects your online presence. Here, through this blog, you will learn what it actually does and why it is so important to a website.
Google ranking is a system that determines the position of web pages according to the information provided by the websites available on the internet.
These days, where the whole world largely depends upon advanced technologies, people do not have much time to visit different stores and companies to get the exact information or service they need. They need everything quickly and in an easy way. Fulfilling the current need, technology has changed the whole world. Now the whole world is on your fingertip. All you need to do is use a search engine like google.
Whenever you search for a keyword on Google, it provides you with hundreds, thousands or millions of page links that may somehow get interlinked with the provided keyword or phrase. However, google examines those pages with your search and sorts them accordingly, the ones that match your search criteria are on the first pages of its search results and those with less relevancy are on the next pages.
Although you cannot control the performance of Google rank, you are able to update your web page accordingly. There are multiple factors that affect the ranking and you can consider them to improve the rank of your website.
- Title Tag
When you create content for your website, you must be clear about what your content is actually focused on or what sort of information your content is providing to your customers. So that you can generate an appropriate title tag for it. The title tag itself explains your content in short.
The search engines read your title tag and index them appropriately on search results. Whereas, on the other hand, your customers do believe that the title tag of content does display what the content is about. If the title tag matches their search, then it is obvious that it gets displayed at a good rank in search results. So, you must be very careful while choosing a title tag for your content.
- Use of Keywords
Keywords are connected to the SEO of a website. Every word that is possible to be used on a search engine to find expected results and information is called a keyword. It may be the words or phrases that people use on search engines to search for something they want on the internet. To identify the best keywords for your content, you need to prepare the content according to the concept of your customer and use the words that your customers are likely to use to reach out to your web page. The more powerful and quality keywords you input, the more chances you have to gain customers and improve ranking.
- Meta Description
Meta description is a short description which cannot be seen in your web page but is visible on search result lists. It lies just below the title tag on the search result. It is an element that describes your content in short and helps you to bring in customers to your website with a description that matches their search and helps the website to improve its ranking.
- Page Load Time
Have you ever noticed how long you wait for a page to load? Have you ever got irritated by a site for its page loading speed?
As a visitor, you expect the sites to load the pages as soon as possible. And when you realize that the site is taking too much time to load, you leave the page to check out other sites so that you can get responses to your queries sooner.
So, your site should be able to quickly load its pages in order to reduce bounce rate and improve google ranking.
- Internal Links
Internal links refer to the hyperlinks of your own pages inserted in the words of your content. By clicking on those words with internal links one can reach another page of your website which s/he might be interested in. But you should be very careful while selecting links to be inserted. The content available on those internal links should be interrelated with the content you are preparing to post and those should provide appropriate information to them because people would definitely not like to waste their time by following a content that does not match their interest or is totally different from what they actually are searching for.
- Responsiveness
A few years back, when smartphones were not that familiar to people all over the world, most people used to check out websites from desktops. The issue of responsive websites never arose at the time. But, in contrast, most of the people these days use smartphones and they prefer websites that are easily accessible in mobile and any other display device. As most of the people use mobile devices to browse the internet nowadays, it’s very essential that a website is responsive. It is also one of the most important aspects for google ranking.
